A landmark investment breakthrough for Telangana
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s week-long visit to Japan in April 2025 marked a major step in Telangana’s efforts to become a global destination for sustainable industries, advanced technology, and future-ready infrastructure. Leading a high-level TelanganaRising delegation, the Chief Minister held a series of meetings with leading Japanese companies, government representatives, and industry bodies between April 16 and 22.
What began as an effort to attract investments worth Rs. 5,000 crore eventually resulted in agreements and partnerships valued at over Rs. 12,000 crore across sectors such as artificial intelligence (AI), clean energy, electronics manufacturing, green pharma, mobility, environmental restoration, and workforce development.

Where diplomacy met development

At the heart of his visit was the ambitious “Future City” project, a proposed 30,000-acre net-zero industrial and urban ecosystem near Hyderabad that aims to combine industrial growth with environmental responsibility and quality living. The visit saw major investment commitments, including Rs. 10,500 crore for an AI data centre cluster and a Rs. 1,000 crore industrial park proposal by Japan’s Marubeni Corporation.
Telangana also signed key agreements on waste management, circular economy practices, skill development, and urban innovation during meetings in cities such as Kitakyushu and Hiroshima. Alongside investment proposals, the delegation showcased a broader vision of building Hyderabad into a global hub for sustainable manufacturing, technology, and climate-resilient urban development.
