Chief Minister of Telangana
In a defining step towards inclusive development and social justice, Telangana’s Chief Minister Shri A. Revanth Reddy has relaunched the historic Indiramma Illu scheme — reviving a legacy that champions the right to housing for the poor.
More than a housing scheme, Indiramma Illu is a promise of dignity, security, and equality, rooted in the ideals of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and aligned with the Constitution’s call for social welfare. Along with building homes, ‘Indiramma Illu’ is also building hope.
Under the revamped Indiramma Illu initiative, the Telangana government has committed to building houses for the underprivileged, marginalised and homeless people across the State. The move aims at addressing the decades-old housing gap, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas where families have long lived in unsafe conditions.

One of the most impactful welfare programmes launched by the Telangana government, the scheme is a significant step towards ensuring that disadvantaged groups have access to affordable housing and was designed to uplift financially unstable and homeless citizens of the State.
What sets this phase of Indiramma Illu apart is its transparency and inclusivity. The selection of beneficiaries is being done through gram sabhas to ensure community participation, weed out political bias, and avoid delays and corruption.
Special focus is being given to SC, ST, BC, minority communities, and women-headed households. The government has streamlined the process with direct fund transfers, fixed timelines and real-time progress monitoring.
The impact of Indiramma Illu goes far beyond individual families. Each home will be built with modern amenities, clean sanitation, and durable materials — reflecting a shift from makeshift shelters to aspirational housing. With thousands of houses being constructed across Telangana, the scheme will:
