CM’s growth vision: Hyderabad at the core, Telangana at the heart of progress

19-08-2025

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, speaking at the CREDAI Property Show 2025, shared an emotional vision for Telangana’s inclusive growth. “Every region must thrive,” he declared, championing the Regional Ring Road and Railway to connect rural areas to Hyderabad’s economic hub, fostering balanced development and vibrant, region-wide prosperity.

When Revanth Reddy took the stage at the CREDAI Property Show 2025 opening ceremony, his message extended beyond Hyderabad’s urban core. His vision for the State was clear: “Telangana’s development story must be one of inclusive, region-wide transformation”. His long-term plan and development agenda for Telangana reflects a strategy that connects every corner of the State through roads, railways, airports, and industrial corridors.

Central to this vision and roadmap is the 8-lane Regional Ring Road (RRR) encircling Hyderabad. Far more than a city project, the RRR will act as the State’s backbone, linking smaller towns to industrial hubs, reducing logistics time, and encouraging balanced regional growth. As Hyderabad is being envisioned as a “services only” city, and the manufacturing sector being planned in the region between the ORR and the RRR, the growth of areas beyond the peripheral suburbs of the city is guaranteed and undeniable.

Faster access for rural clusters

The project proposal of 11 radial roads connecting the RRR to the ORR is part of the Telangana government’s strategic governance and outlook that ensures faster access for rural and semi-urban clusters to Hyderabad’s economic ecosystem. This multimodal connectivity will bring the emerging satellite townships and industrial zones around Hyderabad closer to the core urban region.

The Regional Ring Railway, on the other hand, is aimed at linking all the districts and mandals to Hyderabad by including strategically planned new stations, which are expected to propel the growth in remote regions by enhancing intra-State mobility. At the same time, it also helps reduce rural dependency on Hyderabad’s urban core and migration from rural areas.

The Chief Minister Reddy also emphasised that the Regional Ring Railway project will complement the RRR by creating a parallel rail corridor for both passengers and freight. This will help industries in districts like Nalgonda, Nizamabad, and Warangal move goods faster and cheaper, while also improving connectivity for commuters.

According to Revanth Reddy’s growth vision, air connectivity is another game-changer. Speaking of new regional airports and an expanded Hyderabad airport, he signalled that Telangana is preparing for both passenger growth and cargo handling. Highlighting Telangana’s lack of airport facilities, he said that the airports being developed in Warangal and Adilabad are expected to integrate with highways and dry ports, ensuring a smooth flow of goods to national and international markets.

Dry port initiative

Equally significant is the dry port initiative – positioned strategically on the Hyderabad-Amaravati Greenfield Highway, the dry port will directly connect Telangana’s industries to the Machilipatnam port, giving the landlocked State unprecedented access to the east coast. This move will slash logistics costs, boost exports, and attract manufacturing companies seeking quick turnaround times.

To ensure holistic growth, Revanth Reddy outlined a three-zone development model – core urban, semi-urban, and rural. This approach acknowledges the State’s diverse needs: modern tech hubs in Hyderabad, agro-processing units in semi-urban districts, and rural infrastructure that improves living standards for farmers and small businesses.

His economic masterplan, including an appeal for restructuring Rs. 2 lakh crore of State debt, shows the seriousness and commitment with which the Telangana Congress government is aligning fiscal stability with development. Transparent, investor-friendly policies are designed not only to attract foreign capital but also to reassure the State’s own developers and entrepreneurs.

In essence, the Chief Minister’s speech signals a statewide connectivity revolution – where highways, railways, airports, and ports serve as the lifelines of a new Telangana. The State’s transformation journey is, thus, made crystal clear – that Hyderabad may be the nucleus, but the entire State will vibrate with the energy of progress.
